Model Context Protocol

Heysnaps for your AI assistant

Heysnaps has an MCP server, so an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can work with your account directly. Ask “How many photos are in our wedding album?” or “Add the schedule for Saturday,” and the assistant does it in Heysnaps. You connect it with a token from your account, and you can revoke that token at any time.

Three steps

Step 1

Create a token

Open your album account, choose “Connect an AI assistant,” and name the token. It is shown exactly once, so copy it right away.

Step 2

Add the server

In your assistant, add Heysnaps as an MCP server: address https://heysnaps.com/api/mcp, sign-in by Bearer token.

Step 3

Ask

“Which albums do I have?” “Send me the upload link for the graduation party.” “Put in: 6:30 cake, 10:00 fireworks.”

Create a token in your account

Connection details

Any assistant or agent that speaks the Model Context Protocol over HTTP can connect. You need the address and your token. The server answers initialize, tools/list, and tools/call as JSON-RPC 2.0 over HTTP POST.

Example configuration

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "heysnaps": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://heysnaps.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer hs_mcp_YOUR_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}

Many MCP clients accept a block like this. The exact place to put it depends on the client, so check its documentation for remote MCP servers. Replace the placeholder with your own token and keep it out of shared files.

The tools

5 tools, 4 of them read-only. Deliberately few: what is not listed here, an assistant cannot do, even with a valid token.

  • My albums

    list_my_albumsReads only

    Lists the albums in this account with status, plan, number of photos and videos, and storage time. Start here: every other tool needs one of the returned IDs.

  • Album status

    get_album_statusReads only

    One album in detail: plan and limits, photo and video count, whether the storage clock has started, the event schedule, and whether photo booth mode is unlocked.

  • Share links

    get_share_linksReads only

    The links for this album: the guest upload page (where the QR code points), the gallery, the slideshow, and, if unlocked, the photo booth page for a tablet.

  • Create QR cards

    create_qr_cardsReads only

    Creates the print-ready PDF with this album's QR cards, the same file a print shop would get. Two variants: 'mini' (take-away card, 85 × 55 mm, about 3.35 × 2.17 in, double-sided) and 'a6' (table card, 148 × 105 mm, about 5.83 × 4.13 in). Returns the file. Nothing is ordered and nothing is charged.

  • Set the event schedule

    set_scheduleChanges something

    Sets the event schedule that guests see on the upload page. Replaces the existing list completely; an empty list hides the block.

What it cannot do

  • See or download your guests' photos and videos.
  • Read guest data such as names or RSVPs.
  • Buy, pay, or order anything.
  • Delete photos, videos, or albums.

These tools do not exist. That is a design decision and not a permission setting, so no prompt can switch them on.

Things to ask

  • “Which of my albums have fewer than ten photos so far?”
  • “Give me the gallery link for Emma and Jack's wedding.”
  • “Create the table-card PDF for the reunion album.”
  • “Set the schedule: 4:00 ceremony, 5:30 dinner on the patio, 9:00 first dance.”

Questions

What is the Heysnaps MCP server?
An interface that lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT work with your Heysnaps account. Instead of signing in and clicking, you ask your assistant. It sees your albums and can do a small number of things for you.
How do I connect my assistant to Heysnaps?
Create a token in your album account under “Connect an AI assistant.” Then add Heysnaps as an MCP server in your assistant: address https://heysnaps.com/api/mcp, sign-in by Bearer token. The token is shown once, so copy it when you create it.
What can the assistant see and change?
It can list your albums, look at one album in detail (plan, photo and video count, storage time), get the links for upload, gallery, slideshow, and photo booth, create the QR cards as a print-ready PDF, and set the event schedule that guests see. That is all.
What can the assistant not do?
It cannot reach your guests' photos or data, cannot read RSVPs, cannot buy or pay for anything, and cannot delete media. Those tools do not exist, not even with a valid token.
What if my token falls into the wrong hands?
Revoke it in your account and it stops working immediately. Every token also has an expiry date, and you can see when it was last used. Your normal browser sign-in is not affected.
Does it cost extra?
No. The MCP server is part of your album and has no separate price.
