Wedding photo scavenger hunt ideas
A photo scavenger hunt gives guests a short list of pictures to take during the reception. It works best with eight to twelve prompts, a mix of easy and funny, and one place for all the photos to land. With a QR code album, guests see the prompts on the upload page and send each photo straight to you.

Prompts about people
A photo with someone you met today. The oldest and the youngest guest together. Three generations in one frame. The person who has known the bride longest. The person who has known the groom longest. Your whole table. Someone wiping away a tear. The best-dressed guest. A guest who traveled the farthest. The flower girl or ring bearer off duty.
Prompts about moments
The first toast. A hug that lasts too long. The couple when they think nobody is looking. The cake before it is cut, and after. Someone laughing so hard they cannot stand straight. The first dance from where you sit. A kiss. The send-off. The quiet moment at the bar. The last people on the dance floor.
Prompts about details
Your place setting. The flowers up close. The shoes under the table. A handwritten note. The view from the venue. The dessert you chose. The drink of the night. Something borrowed. Something blue. The detail everybody else will miss.
Prompts that get people moving
Your best dance move, frozen. A group jump. A selfie with the DJ or band. The worst dancer at your table, with permission. A photo taken from the floor. Everyone at your table making the same face. A photo with the couple. Trade places with another table. Recreate a famous movie pose. One photo you would frame.
How do you run it?
Pick eight to twelve prompts from the lists above; forty is too many for one night. In Heysnaps, add them as photo challenges and guests see them when they scan the QR code. Mention the hunt in the after-dinner announcement, and let the live slideshow show the results. A small prize for the table that finishes first is optional and effective.
Questions
- How many prompts should a scavenger hunt have?
- Eight to twelve. Fewer feels thin, more feels like homework. Choose a couple from each group so that shy and outgoing guests both find something they like.
- Does it work for parties other than weddings?
- Yes. Swap the wedding prompts for ones that fit: the graduate with a teacher, the birthday guest with their oldest friend, the team with the trophy.
- Do guests need an app or an account?
- No. The QR code opens an upload page in the phone's browser. Guests pick photos from their camera roll and send them. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
